10.00-14.00, 12/11/2017, Penteli/Daveli hike, November 2017
Would you like to discover some amazing favourite parts of our beloved city? Join us on a refreshing nature hike, exploring the surrounding Attica mountains!
This time, we are going to hike on the southern slopes of mount Penteli (1109m), exploring the abandoned quarries that produced the celebrated marble that created the Parthenon and similar ancient marvels. The goal will not be to reach the summit, but to visit the mysterious Daveli Cave (739m). The complex includes an ancient quarry, a small double church (St. Spyridon and St. Nicholas), an obscure abandoned military tunnel, and the cave of the infamous brigand, shrouded in UFO legends and even nuclear silo conspiracies. On the way down, we can relax for a couple of hours in the taverns and cafes of Palaia Penteli.
Starting Point: @10.00, from Ag. Triada square on Palaia Pentelli, next to the bust of the poet Kostas Krystallis
