For hiking trips

General recommended gear for hiking trips, depending on the weather conditions and the trip’s length. Adapt as necessary, and always use common sense. 

Clothing

  • Hiking boots (absolutely necessary)
  • Hiking pants (breathable, ideally water resistant)
  • Fleece (you might remove this during the hike)
  • Windproof/waterproof jacket
  • Sunglasses (snow and bare rock are really reflective surfaces)
  • Sun or woolly hat, bandana (depending on weather conditions)
  • Woolly/waterproof gloves
  • Thermal clothes/underwear (for really cold conditions)
  • Second pair of shoes (for after the hike)
  • Second change of socks/clothes (for after the hike)

Personal Hygiene

  • Personal first aid kit
  • Hand sanitizer (alcohol based)
  • Toilet/tissue paper, baby wipes
  • Sunscreen/lip balm
  • Personal trash bag (for collecting your own)
  • Water (at least 0.5lt per half day)
  • Snacks for the road

Other equipment

  • Walking sticks (if needed)
  • Day backpack (to carry during the hike)
  • Pocket knife or multitool
  • Power bank/charger (for your electronic devices)
  • Camera (to capture those unique moments)
  • Torch (ideally head mounted, plus batteries)
  • Book/Tablet (for recreation during the bus transfer)
  • Printed or offline map application/GPS
